City Attorney Statements Regarding Personnel Process

May 1 Statement:

Michael Gennaco of the Office of Independent Review has completed his investigation of the July 5, 2011, incident involving Kelly Thomas.  The investigation has been submitted to, and reviewed by Acting Chief of Police Dan Hughes.  In accordance with applicable personnel procedures, Acting Chief Hughes will be preparing any appropriate notices to affected members of the Department.

May 15 Update:

The Acting Chief has advised me that he has completed the review of the report and has reached his findings. He is now preparing to notify the officers of his findings.  As previously stated, by State law penal code section 832.7, these actions are confidential.  Any results of these finding that are not confidential will be announced to the public as soon as is legally possible.
