March 22, 2013On December 18, 2012, the Fullerton City Council approved an amended contract with MG Disposal, the City's trash hauler. The amendments include that hauling rates for a two year period - through June 30, 2014 are "frozen" – the former contract terms allowed an annual increase equal to the Consumer Price Index (CPI). This saves the average customer about $0.30 savings a month on the monthly rates of $18.60. The two-year frozen rate also lowers the base rate in future calculations, until the end of the contract term on June 30, 2027. The City does not control the rate for disposal at the landfills, which may be increased by the County of Orange annually. Rates are calculated to include both the cost of hauling and the cost of disposal at the landfill. More...
