Initial CERT Training

This training is free, but participants will need to pay for LiveScan fingerprinting after completing the course. Call Fullerton Fire at (714)773-1316 with questions. View Course Syllabus.

Class size limited to 50 - Register early.

CERT Course Syllabus

Persons requiring special accommodations to participate in the training classes are asked to notify the Fire Department staff at the time of registration.


Monthly CERT Training Dates

These Training Sessions are for team members who have successfully completed the initial CERT Academy.  
All Training Sessions will occur at the following location unless otherwise noted:

EOC Training @ Fire Station # 6 - This will not be a timed drill.  This will be a step by step training on setting up the EOC.
February 9
7:00pm - 9:00pm
Bi-Monthly Meeting - Update on CERT Requirements, Maps, Compass & Survival. Attendence required for all memebers ESPECIALLY Active Members.
March 14
9:00am - 12:00pm
EOC Training - Location to be determined. This will be a step by step training on setting up the EOC.
April 13
7:00pm - 9:00pm
Bi-Monthly Meeting - Search & Rescue and Radio Usage - Fullerton Self Storage property will be the location for this drill.
June 8
7:00pm - 9:00pm
Bi-Monthly Meeting - Fire Patrol, Utility Control Shut off, Extinguisher and Cooling Center  - Meeting will be held at the City Yard.
June 27
9:00am - 12:00pm
EOC Activation Drill - Location to be determined. This will be a timed drill.

9:00am - 12:00pm
EOC Training - Location to be determined. This will not be a timed drill. This will be a step by step training on setting up the EOC.

Training days are the second Monday of even months. There is no training in December.
Courses will be canceled for insufficient interest (need 6 people to attend).
No training is planned for January, March, May, July, September, November and December.

Cribbing
Cribbing

Earthquake Awareness — a study of the earthquake threat in Southern California, and what to do before, during and after a quake.

Fire Awareness — fire chemistry, fire safety, utility control, creative firefighting techniques and how to recognized hazardous materials.

Disaster Medical Operations — recognizing and treating life-threatening emergencies, the “ABC’s of Triage”, basic first aid and treatment management.

Light Search and Rescue Operations — evacuation, search techniques, rescue methods, including cribbing.

Team Organization and Disaster Psychology — developing a response team using people on scene, utilizing the Incident Command Structure and completing a psychological size-up of victims of a disaster.

Terrorism and Homeland Defense — a study of the history of terrorism, DOs and DON’Ts during a terrorist attack, and Homeland defense tips.
