A MOTION was made, seconded and CARRIED by members present to approve the Minutes of November 7, 2002.
Ms. Morad advised that inspections are to be conducted by committee members in January and July, and the City Inspector, Mike Austin, in April and October.
Mr. Rubi advised that the January inspection was done last week, and reported that two or three apartments are in bad condition. Mr. Rubi notified the residents that they need to adhere to the regulations or they would be evicted. Because of the scheduling problem, no committee members participated in the January inspection.
Co-chairperson Gillespie and Committee member Johnson suggested waiting until July to do the next committee inspection, with the City inspector conducting an inspection in April. Committee Member McGarvey suggested a different member inspect each floor. The City Inspector will conduct an inspection in April, and SRO Committee members will conduct inspections in the first week of July.
Ms. Morad advised that the calls for Fire and Police continue to be low. One problem resident is in the process of being evicted.
Ms. Morad advised that the owner, ADI, and Adelphia will be meeting on January 10, 2003, to look at the possibility of putting in basic cable for all the units. Mr. Rubi advised that the building is already wired for cable in each room.
Ms. Morad reported that the cost of installation and the operating cost will be paid for by the owner.
Co-chairperson Gillespie asked if the leaking into the basement is still intact. Mr. Rubi advised that he would keep an eye on it. Mr. Rubi reported that the trash shoot is working fine when people do not insert oversized packages.
Mr. O'Leary advised of some rumors of drug dealings happening on the fourth floor. Mr. Rubi was aware of this rumor and advised that he will report anything suspicious to the police department.
Co-chairperson voiced his concern about a representative from the fire department not displaying any interest in the meetings. Ms. Morad said she would find out if the fire department has any concerns regarding the SRO anymore since the calls are down.
The committee agreed to bypass the February meeting. The next meeting will be March 6, 2003.
Committee Member McGarvey moved that the meeting be adjourned, which was seconded and CARRIED by members present. The meeting was adjourned at 4:40 p.m.
