- Chairman McNelly called the meeting to order at 7:35 a.m.
- MEMBERS PRESENT:
- Adamson, Devlin, Hardwick, Hoover, McNelly, Mahaffey, Mitchell, Murphy, Pendarvis, Roberts
- MEMBERS ABSENT:
- None
- STAFF PRESENT:
- Water Systems Manager Carlson, Maintenance Services Director Savage, Contract Planner Garcia, Associate Planner Eastman, and Clerical Support Thompson
- APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
- Minutes of the August 21,2002 meeting were APPROVED as written.
- DISCUSSION ITEMS:
Water Supply Issues - John Carlson, Water System ManagerWater Systems Manager Carlson explained to the Committee the current water supply status and the process in which the City obtains its water. After some discussion on the Master Plan and the ground water basin the committee asked Water Systems Manager Carlson to define some of the abbreviations used in the Master Plan and how they were calculated. The Committee made a request to have the Orange County Water District Manager Virginia Grebbien agendized to a future meeting. Sub-Committee (Urban Water Management Plan and water issues) - updateCommittee member Hardwick reported that Water System Manager Carlson would like until January to prepare some thoughts and ideas on which to discuss with the Sub-Committee. It was decided that a Thursday afternoon in January would be an appropriate time to meet. Joint Meeting with the Infrastructure Technology CommitteeChairman McNelly asked Maintenance Services Director Savage to join the meeting this morning to discuss the staff report that was presented to City Council the night before. Director Savage informed the Committee that it was not a discussion item at this time and that it was going to be presented at the joint meeting with the Infrastructure Technology Committee later this month. This was an opportunity for the committee to receive a copy of the report to review for the joint meeting on Wednesday October 30, 2002 at 4:00 p.m. ASCE - Orange County Infrastructure Report CardChairman McNelly informed the Committee of the 2002 Renewing Orange County Infrastructure Report Card and the actual ratings that each city received. Composting WorkshopThere was a great turnout at the September 28th composting workshop with 131 people in attendance. Chairman McNelly expressed a desire to see more local publicity on the program through the City to bring additional awareness of the program to it's residents. The next workshop will be on Saturday October 26th at 10 a.m. on Composting with Worms. - COMMITTEE MEMBER COMMENTS
Committee member Hardwick presented the Committee with the nomination the Fullerton Arboretum had received at the 3rd Annual Discovery Museum Trash Bash. Committee member Adamson expressed an interest in learning more about the actual coverage in the Greenwaste Collection Program. Committee member Devlin expressed some concern regarding the recruitment of applicants for the committees. - AGENDA FORECAST
Items to be reviewed at a future meeting are the Beverage Container Recycling Program, Update on the Greenwaste Collection Program, and Joint Meeting with the Infrastructure Committee. - ADJOURNMENT
- The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 a.m. The next regularly scheduled meeting will be November 20, 2002.
