Fullerton, Ca – Former Fullerton Mayor, Sharon Quirk-Silva will host an “Endings & Beginnings” Reception on Wednesday, December 12, from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm with presentations scheduled at 5:15 pm at Café Hidalgo Restaurant at 305 North Harbor Blvd in Fullerton. The reception will cap her eight years on the Fullerton City Council, two terms as Mayor. Quirk-Silva was recently elected to the CA Assembly for the 65th District, representing Fullerton, Buena Park, Stanton, Cypress, Stanton, La Palma and West Anaheim.
Coming from a family of 10 children, Quirk-Silva lived in Fullerton since the age of two and attended Richman Elementary, Nicholas Junior High and Fullerton Union High School. After high school she earned an associate of arts degree from Fullerton College before transferring to UCLA, where she received a bachelor’s degree in sociology in 1985. She earned a California Teacher Credential in 1988 from California State University, Fullerton and has been a teacher with the Fullerton School District for over 24 years.
An advocate of reaching out to citizens, Quirk-Silva created the popular “Walk and Talk” program in which she led citizens on walks through specific areas of the community to discuss issues of concern. She also instituted her annual “Women in Leadership” program in which women leaders in business and education were honored.
“I am honored to have represented the people of Fullerton as Mayor and City Councilmember over the past eight years,” commented Quirk-Silva. “I want my constituents to know that I will continue to be an advocate for Fullerton and I look forward to great things for my hometown in the years ahead.
