The Medicare Annual Enrollment Period runs from October 15 through December 7. People on Medicare should evaluate and/or make changes to their health coverage during this period, if they choose. In an effort to help Medicare consumers with this process, the Fullerton Community Center will host a free Medicare Enrollment Assistance Clinic on Monday, November 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., by appointment. To make this appointment, call the center’s senior programs line, 714 738-6305.
Trained volunteer HICAP counselors will be available to answer questions about Medicare enrollments and benefits and to provide plan comparisons for Medicare participants. It is of paramount importance that on the clinic day, participants bring their Medicare card, any other insurance cards and their bottles of prescription medications at the time of their appointments.
The Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) is a volunteer-supported program that provides free counseling, education and assistance in Medicare and health insurance issues. The program’s purpose is to provide information; it does not sell, endorse or recommend any specific insurance.
The Fullerton Community Center is located at 340 W. Commonwealth Avenue, west of Harbor Boulevard, in Amerige Park. Further information about programs and services may be obtained by calling the center at (714) 738-6575.
