The inventive genius of “hometown boy” Leo Fender will be explored and celebrated at the “Leo Fender Family Day” Sunday, June 3, at the Fullerton Museum Center.

The event, which will offer a fun day of activities for the entire family, will be held on the closing day of the museum’s popular exhibit, "Solid Design:  Leo Fender’s Telecaster."

Fender’s work began in 1938 when he opened a radio repair shop in downtown Fullerton.  Soon, musicians started coming to his shop in search of improved guitars and amplifiers.  Fender’s work – which included development of the legendary Telecaster and Stratocaster guitars – earned the respect and admiration of musicians and music-lovers around the world, and culminated in his induction into Rock and Roll and Country Music halls of fame.

"Leo Fender Family Day" will be held from noon-4 p.m., and will include tours of the exhibit, hands-on guitar demonstrations in which children will get to play electric and acoustic guitars, crafts, and a scavenger hunt for prizes throughout the museum gallery. 

"Leo Fender Family Day" is free with regular admission to the museum. 
Museum admission is $4 for adults, $3 for students with student identification and senior citizens 65 and older, $1 for children 6 to 12, and free to children under 5 and to members of the Fullerton Museum Center. 

The award-winning Fullerton Museum Center is located at 301 N. Pomona Ave., one block east of Harbor Boulevard, in downtown Fullerton.
