Community Meeting Set on West Coyote Hills EIR
Contact :Sylvia Palmer Mudrick, Public Information Coordinator    (714) 738-6317
A community meeting on the Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the West Coyote Hills Specific Plan has been scheduled for Monday, Oct. 20.

The meeting, coordinated by the Fullerton Development Services Department, will begin at 7 p.m. in the Sunny Hills High School auditorium, 1801 Warburton Way.

The meeting will include an overview of the EIR, which was released for public review Sept. 29, and a question-and-answer session.

The 582-acre West Coyote Hills site is bordered on the north by La Habra, on the east by Euclid Street, on the west by the new Hawks Pointe residential community, and on the south by Rosecrans Avenue. Gilbert Street divides the property from north to south.

Developer Pacific Coast Homes proposes to build 760 housing units on a 177-acre portion of the area. Other components of the West Coyote Hills Specific Plan include a 17.1-acre public use site; a 5.2-acre neighborhood commercial development; and open space and recreational uses on 279.4 acres. Road improvements comprise another 29.3 acres.

In addition, the city is proposing improvements to the 72.3-acre Robert E. Ward Nature Preserve, including an interpretive center, restrooms, trails, and restoration of some coastal sage ground cover. As proposed, these improvements would be funded by Pacific Coast Homes.

Copies of the EIR, which was prepared by Keeton Kreitzer Consulting of Tustin, are available for review in the Development Services Department at Fullerton City Hall, 303 W. Commonwealth Ave.

Copies are also available for review at the Fullerton Main Library, 353 W. Commonwealth, and the Hunt Branch Library, 201 S. Basque Ave. In addition, the report has been converted to PDF format and placed on the City's website, www.ci.fullerton.ca.us.

Printed copies of the draft EIR are available for purchase in Development Services at a fee equal to the printing costs. In addition, CD ROM copies of the report are available at no charge from Development Services.

The public has until 5 p.m. Nov. 13 to comment on the document. Comments should be submitted to the attention of Senior Planner Melanie Mullis, in care of the Development Services Department.

Further information may be obtained by calling Mullis at (714) 738-6837.

Persons requiring special accommodations to attend the community meeting are asked to notify Mullis prior to Oct. 20.
